Materials We Use

Having the vision to create circular sportswear without plastics like polyester is one thing, but actually achieving it and finding excellent alternatives is another.

In our products, we primarily use our favorite fabric: Tencel™, because of its sustainability and performance benefits:

reduces bacterial growth.

provides excellent breathability.

natural odour control without harsh chemicals.

hypoallergenic, reducing the risk of allergic reactions and skin irritation.

moisture regulation, keeping our customers pleasantly cool.

Tencel™ fabrics are developed by the Austrian company Lenzing. These innovative fibers are produced without harmful chemicals, and over 99% of the water and environmentally safe solvent used in its production is recycled. TENCEL™ fibers are not only certified as biodegradable and compostable, but they also have the ability to fully revert back to nature within a relatively short period, depending on environmental conditions. This sets them apart from synthetic materials like polyester, which can take centuries to decompose.

The wood pulp used in TENCEL™ comes from sustainably managed forests, primarily in Europe, and includes species such as eucalyptus, pine, spruce, and birch. All wood is certified according to recognized sustainability standards like FSC® and PEFC™.

Our dyed TENCEL™ material is also free from harmful chemicals and meets the Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certification.

Tencel™ Lyocell

TENCEL™ Lyocell are regenerated cellulosic fibers known for their natural comfort and environmentally responsible closed loop production process. These fibers are derived from eucalyptus trees.

They deliver quality, performance and versatility.

Tencel™ Modal

TENCEL™ Modal fibers are regenerated cellulosic fibers known for being exquisitely soft and pleasant to the skin. Brilliant in color and luster, TENCEL™ Modal fibers exhibit high flexibility, resulting in a naturally soft and long-lasting quality to the textile. These fibers are derived from beech trees.

Natural rubber

We use a combination of Tencel™ Lyocell or certified organic cotton along with natural rubber for the elastic waistband instead of elastane. Natural rubber is derived from tree resin.

Organic cotton

Organic cotton is 100% pesticides free and can reduce CO2 emissions by 60% compared to conventional cotton, often of a higher quality. STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX® - you can be certain that every component of this article, i.e. every thread, button and other accessories, has been tested for harmful substances and that the article therefore is harmless for human health.

 ROICA™ V550

Our objective is to use the most sustainable and functional materials available. If natural materials cannot meet key performance features without compromising quality, we will opt for the next most sustainable option.

Rather than using regular elastane for the necessary stretch, we choose a more sustainable alternative: ROICA™ V550. This compostable version of elastane is cradle-to-cradle certified with a material health category gold rating, ensuring it is free from harmful chemicals and biodegradable. In our view, this is the second most sustainable solution.
